The Back-to-School Picnic was well attended, blessedly dry, and fun for all. Thanks to all the families who joined together on the Esplanade to kick off the year. I was pleased that more than 110 children, parents, and faculty participated. At the end of the evening, as I was walking back to school, the park director took me aside and complimented the group for enjoying the space and leaving it better than we found it. And note to self: buy more balloons next year!

The next community event is Friday, October 9, when we celebrate our elders and mentors on Grandfriends Day. The day begins at 9:30 AM for guests and concludes at noon for all students. It is an early dismissal day as we head into a long weekend, with Monday off. There is no extended day as faculty are in professional development Friday afternoon.
