Welcome

Kristen Hanisch Mansharamani

Title: Executive Director

My career has been varied enough to give me the relatively wide set of experiences that I find I need daily in managing our school.  I graduated with a Bachelor's from Yale University in 1997, where I majored in Ethics, Politics and Economics with a concentration in Sino - U.S. relations and studies.  My first trip out of the United States took me to Hong Kong, followed very shortly by a few months of independent travel and study in mainland China.   After college, my interest in the public sector took me into public finance, structuring, sizing and refinancing debt issuances and long-term budgets for public entities like the City of Washington, D.C. and the New Jersey Turnpike Authority.   I received my law degree from Harvard Law School in 2002 and spent approximately five years at Ropes & Gray as a corporate litigator.   In the course of my finance and legal pursuits, I dabbled in residential real estate (and worked on the litigation side of corporate real estate transactions.)

When I became a mother, I left Ropes & Gray, after realizing that the myriad of early childhood care and education that I believed must exist downtown actually did not.  I spent about two years both being a full-time Mom and strategizing about the premise, long-term vision and logistics for Torit Language Center Montessori.  We opened our doors when my daughter (Tori Teresa) turned two.  She is now in our Preprimary class.  My little boy, Kai, is currently in our Infant class.  All of that is by way of excuse for having no hobbies whatsoever to report anymore.  Congratulate me if I ever am again taking dance classes, as classical ballet was a passion of mine in another life and I spent so many hours a day dancing that I did my fair share of jazz, Russian character dancing and improvisational pieces as well.
