Welcome

Molly's Marathon Run

Date: Wednesday, April 06, 2011

Dear Pre-Primary Families,

As some of you may already know, in April I will be running the 115th Boston Marathon for the non-profit organization Neurofibromatosis Inc. Northeast.  NF is a genetic disorder, causing tumors to form along the nerves anywhere in or on the body.  Although it is not a commonly known disease, it affects more people than Muscular Dystrophy and Cystic Fibrosis combined!

I became involved with this organization three years, through a friend from my local hometown whose seven year old son has this disease.  This will be my third year running the Marathon as a member of the NF team.  There are usually only about 15 members contributing to the marathon team each year, and I feel extremely honored to be running for such a great cause again.  Last year, I convinced Miss Taylor to run the last 13 miles with me, and I am trying very hard to convince her to do it again this year!

With the marathon being less than two months away, I am very focused on my training and fundraising over the next few weeks.  On top of making weekly trips to Newton/Wellesley to practice on the course, I have been raising funds in hopes to promote awareness and enlighten more people about NF.  If you are interested in learning more information about the disease or contributing to my fundraising efforts, please don't hesitate to ask!!  I have also set up an online fundraising page which can be found at http://firstgiving.com/mollyflanagan.

Thanks so much,

Miss Molly ☺
