Dear Pre-Primary Families,
As some of you may already know, in April I will be running the 115th Boston Marathon for the non-profit organization Neurofibromatosis Inc. Northeast. NF is a genetic disorder, causing tumors to form along the nerves anywhere in or on the body. Although it is not a commonly known disease, it affects more people than Muscular Dystrophy and Cystic Fibrosis combined!
I became involved with this organization three years, through a friend from my local hometown whose seven year old son has this disease. This will be my third year running the Marathon as a member of the NF team. There are usually only about 15 members contributing to the marathon team each year, and I feel extremely honored to be running for such a great cause again. Last year, I convinced Miss Taylor to run the last 13 miles with me, and I am trying very hard to convince her to do it again this year!
With the marathon being less than two months away, I am very focused on my training and fundraising over the next few weeks. On top of making weekly trips to Newton/Wellesley to practice on the course, I have been raising funds in hopes to promote awareness and enlighten more people about NF.
